Photo checklist
Give the generator a clear view of your cast
Use one sharp, unobstructed subject per reference photo and match the image to its labeled role. The generator has more to work with when the face is readable and the lighting is even. Good inputs can help, but no photograph guarantees an exact likeness in a newly generated performance.
Look for soft light and a visible face
Daylight from a window is often easier to work with than a bright lamp directly overhead. Choose a front-facing or nearly front-facing adult portrait. Avoid deep shadows over the eyes, sunglasses, hair across the face and aggressive beauty filters that remove distinguishing detail.
Choose one person for each role
Separate portraits help the generator connect each slot to a single identity. Keep other people out of the crop and leave enough of the head visible to show hair and face shape. A duet needs two images: viewer-left first, viewer-right second. For optional trio portraits, add viewer-left before viewer-right; you cannot add only the right supporting portrait. See the friends trio for a three-person role example.
Use a cat portrait for the pet template
Choose a sharp cat photo with visible eyes, ears and coat markings. A curled-up pose with the face hidden gives the model little identity information. The cat preset changes the situation into a dance; it is not a general-purpose pet animation mode for every species. The cat template page shows the intended scene.
Check the file before upload
Use JPG, PNG or WebP within the 10 MB limit shown in the tool. If a phone image uses another format, export a supported copy first. When signed in, choosing a photo starts preparation and upload; the browser corrects orientation and resizes large images. Signed-out selection is a local preview.
Check permission as carefully as sharpness
Use your own image or one of an adult who agreed to be included. Children, public figures and celebrities are not permitted. Confirm that sharing the final clip is also acceptable. If the upload fails, try a fresh supported export; if the result looks wrong, review the role assignment before spending another credit.

Questions people ask
Will a heavily filtered selfie preserve my face better?
Usually it removes useful facial detail. Prefer an evenly lit, lightly processed image that looks like the person in ordinary conditions.
Do both duet portraits need the same background?
No. Separate subjects are placed into a generated scene. Similar lighting and clear faces matter more than matching source backgrounds.
Can I upload HEIC directly?
The current tool lists JPG, PNG and WebP. Export an HEIC photo into one of those formats before selecting it.
When does the selected image leave my device?
For signed-in users, preparation and upload begin when the photo is selected. A signed-out preview remains local. Generation starts only after you submit the request.
